Meanwhile the upstream package has evolved quite a bit. I recently switched to using the upstream package and I recommend the same until one of us packages a more recent version. Sebastien Wains published a description of FuzzyOCR installation on CentOS/RHEL on the 29th of December 2006 - and the method he proposed uses the upstream Perl module : http://www.wains.be/?p=176 - but it looks easy enough so you might want to try that.
